What Our Clients Say

“Ricky has been excellent and we have now completed the process. His communication is swift and clear and he made the whole purchase extremely smooth and manageable for all of the leaseholders involved. He is extremely knowledgeable and very generous with his time. “

“Excellent work Ricky. I don’t know how you coordinated with everyone to make it possible to get the purchase of the freehold.

Once again well done and would certainly recommend you”

Landlord & Tenant

I am a specialist landlord and tenant solicitor. I graduated from the College of Law, Guildford with a Distinction in 2014. I then learned my trade in the Landlord and Tenant department of a local regional firm and qualified as a Solicitor in 2016.

I have been advising on landlord and tenant issues for nine years and now head up the Landlord and Tenant team at Bate & Albon Solicitors.  I have been advised on numerous complex, high value and technical leasehold disputes for properties in Brighton and London, and pride myself on the ability to cut through complexity.

I advise on:
  • Collective enfranchisement of the freehold of apartment buildings
  • Lease extensions
  • Ground rent issues
  • Leaseholders Right of First under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987
  • Lease disputes
  • Service charge cases
  • Disputes relating to AirBnB and holiday lets in appartment buildings
  • Licences for alterations, licences to assign and licences to sublet
  • The Right to Manage
  • Commercial lease renewals
  • Commercial rent arrears or breach of covenant
  • Possession claims and rent arrears cases

I tend to take on cases which are not run of the mill and conduct my own advocacy where possible. This blend of landlord and tenant expertise with a litigation background, means that I can advise on leasehold cases that typically are semi litigious in nature.

I have been the go-to lawyer at any office I have worked at for anything out of the ordinary, whilst developing efficient ways of working on more straightforward cases, which means my clients receive an effective, modern and accurate service.

In addition to my work at Bate & Albon, I volunteer at the Brighton and Hove Leaseholders District Leaseholders Association once a month.

Outside of work, I am into all things relating to endurance sports, hiking and the great outdoors. I am also learning to speak French

As a leasehold specialist I have also been a member of the Association of Leasehold Practitioners for a number of years
