Ricky is one of our partners here at Bate & Albon, specialising in leasehold law and heading up our Landlord and Tenant team. He helps our clients navigate leasehold issues without the jargon, keeping things straightforward. A keen problem solver, Ricky loves applying strategy and tactics to complex situations, and it is this drive that led him to the legal profession. He now overseas a team of lawyers advising on Landlord and Tenant matters.
Ricky studied law at the University of Sussex and then completed his post graduate diploma in legal practice at College of Law Guildford, graduating with a distinction. Upon qualifying as a solicitor, Ricky was supervising solicitor to law students at the University of Sussex who participated in a housing law drop-in service.
Starting his career as a trainee solicitor at Dean Wilson LLP in Brighton, he qualified as a solicitor in 2016, rising quickly to Associate Solicitor there in 2019, before joining our team in 2021.
From complex issues such as lease extensions, freehold enfranchisement or untraceable freeholders, Ricky has extensive experience in Landlord and Tenant law, as well as property litigation.
In his spare time, Ricky volunteers at the Brighton and Hove District Leaseholders Association by attending a free monthly drop-in advice service, advising on leasehold matters such as service charge issues, noise nuisance, lease extensions, high administration fees or insurance demands. He also maintains a blog on leasehold matters. If you are looking to run your own apartment building, Ricky has helped many people achieve this dream.
